RESUME WRITING FORMATS

Which Resume Format ?

One of the first things that a jobseeker needs to decide, when he embarks upon the task of writing a resume, is the format in which the information or the content will be organized on the resume.

There are three fundamental resume formats:

  • Chronological resume
  • Functional resume
  • Combinational resume

1) Chronological Resume:
This chronological (or Reverse Chronological) resume format is the default format type which lists all your professional work experience and qualification in reverse-chronological order. It  begins with your recent work experience and proceed further with your old experience and so on. Chronological resume format is the most widely used Resume Format.

2) Functional Resume:
The functional resume format is one that is used to focus on specific skills relevant to the applied position / job. Functional resume format revolves around your functional or technical skills, rather than the various jobs positions you have held in the past.

3) Combinational Resume:
The Combinational resume format is a combination of both the formats i.e. combination of chronological resume and functional resume. This Resume Format is also known as chrono-functional, hybrid, or combination Resume format.
